The Inner Movement of Walking
When we walk naturally, we are like a spiral of muscles moving in one direction and then the other, we utilise the power of pendulums and springs making it a letting go and effortless move. When re rediscover this freedom of walking people often describe is as "liberating" and a feeling of being "the joy of a child again". I have a sense of letting go of my worries. Try it out yourself, remember let go and remind yourself not to "try", in some ways this is the hardest bit! Here is a video of me walking and showing you an arm routine that helps you access this turning in the upper spine. Notice how my elbows are bending, this is utilising the power of pendulums, and also see how my upper spine turns which helps my arm swing back, not just from my shoulders but also from my breast bone (sternum) .
